breaking news from baltimore this morning where several media outlets are reporting that former ravens owner art modell has died. he had been hospitalized yesterday at johns hopkins for organ failure. modell purchased the cleveland browns in 1961 and ended up moving the team to baltimore in 1996. that move made him a hero in charm city, but made him hated back in cleveland. the 87-year-old modell still held a 1% stake in the raifns. he served as -- ravens. he served as president of the nfl in the 1960s, overseeing the first negotiations of contracts with players and he was key in getting monday night football games on tv. >> what a huge name in our area. >> football. >> yeah, football. >>> it is 7:16. gwent is here to talk about this thursday weather. >> hot and sticky, you're going to want to be prepared, pump up the ac today. drink lots of water, that's the key thing in terms of our forecast. let's begin with the fox 5 accuweather radar and we'll show you what's going on because we have some rain that's developed. we're not talking a total washout here, folks, but some of you will c
's. >> this is wbal 11 news in baltimore. >> it's 8:26. baltimore city police are investigating a shooting involving several of their own officers that happened around 10:00 p.m. on lorraine avenue. police say detectives observed an armed man who ran inside and the man drew a semi-automatic handgun, pointing it in the direction of police. the detectives have been placed on administrative duty. baltimore county police called to the 7100 block of darlington drive in parkville tee bee's bar where investigators found tavares lonell jones. he was stabbed while breaking up a fight. jones was taken to the hospital where he later died. city fire officials are trying to determine what sparked a fire that killed one person in east baltimore. this picture was provided by the baltimore city fire department. the fire happened just before 3:00 saturday in the 15000 block of holbrook street. neighbors say the victim was known in the neighborhood. >> he was a good guy. he was a real good guy. everybody loved him in the neighborhood. everybody loved him. the whole neighborhood knew him well. >> police say while sear

in baltimore monday could have been a lot worse. investigators say the 15-year-old suspect robert wayne gladden jr. was unable to access his stepfather's gun collection because it was locked in a safe. they say they used his father's shotgun instead. gladden has been charged as an adult with attempted murder. the victim, daniel bowery remains in critical condition. his family is overwhelmed with the support they received. even lady gaga is expected to send him a gift. >>> a baltimore man is behind bars this morning accused of stealing a woman's car then breaking into her home. marie says she lost her keys while at maryland casino wednesday night. police say 50-year-old daniel miller found the keys, took her car and eventually drove to her house in edgewater. officers caught him walking out of her home with her laptop and jewelry. despite it being locked up, she's still on edge. >> never experienced it and so it's really been -- it's unsettling. i'm kind of walking around in circles. things i want to do, and i just am just -- very unsettled still. >> miller faces multiple charges, including burg
